Renpho scale to Garmin Connect on iPhone

Renpho makes the best-selling smart scale on Amazon, and its app syncs with Apple Health, Fitbit and Google Fit, but not with Garmin Connect. On an iPhone there is a short route anyway: Renpho Health saves every weigh-in to Apple Health, and Scale Relay reads it there and sends weight, body fat and BMI to your Garmin account. This guide covers the Renpho side, the Scale Relay side, and what to do when a weigh-in does not show up.

Updated 6 October 2026 · Scale Relay 1.3 · iOS 17 or later · Elis 1, Elis Solar and every Renpho scale that pairs with the Renpho Health app

What you need

  • A Renpho scale that works with the Renpho Health app: Elis 1 (ES-CS20M), Elis Solar, Elis Aspire and the other current models. The older "Renpho" app is marked outdated in the App Store; move to Renpho Health if you still use it.
  • An iPhone with iOS 17 or later. Scale Relay reads Apple Health, which only exists on iPhone.
  • A Garmin Connect account. Two-factor authentication is supported.
  • Scale Relay from the App Store. The first two syncs are free.

Free to try. The first two syncs are free and include weigh-ins from the last 7 days. Unlimited syncing and older history are a one-time $14.99 purchase (Garmin Sync), no subscription.

How it works

Garmin Connect does not read weight from Apple Health, and Renpho has no Garmin integration; the MyFitnessPal link that Renpho offers passes weight only. Scale Relay closes the gap from the Health side: Renpho Health keeps writing each weigh-in to Apple Health as it does today, Scale Relay lists what is new, and one tap sends those weigh-ins to Garmin Connect. Garmin shows them under Health Stats › Weight, exactly like a weigh-in from a Garmin Index scale.

Because Scale Relay relays what Renpho wrote, you keep the Renpho app and its body-composition formulas. Renpho Health writes weight, body fat percentage, BMI and lean body mass to Health; weight, body fat and BMI go on to Garmin. Muscle mass, water and bone mass have no Apple Health type, so they stay in the Renpho app.

Make sure Renpho Health writes to Apple Health

On first launch Renpho Health asks for Health access; tap Allow. If you skipped that, open the iPhone Health app, tap your profile picture, then Apps › Renpho Health and tap Turn All Categories On. Renpho's own guide for this is the Apple Health Kit setting guide.

Renpho writes weigh-ins made after access was granted. To check, weigh yourself, then open Health › Browse › Body Measurements › Weight: the new entry should list Renpho Health as its source.

Step by step

  1. Weigh yourself with Renpho Health open

Open Renpho Health on your iPhone and step on the scale as usual. The app receives the measurement over Bluetooth, calculates body composition and writes weight, body fat, BMI and lean body mass to Apple Health. Each family member must be signed in to their own Renpho profile for their weigh-in to land in their own Health data.

  2. Confirm the weigh-in is in Health

Only needed the first time. In the Health app, Browse › Body Measurements › Weight should show today's weight from Renpho Health. If it does not, go back to the section above and turn the categories on.

  3. Install Scale Relay and connect Apple Health

Download Scale Relay from the App Store, open the Health tab and tap Connect Apple Health. iOS shows the Health permission screen: allow Weight, Body Fat Percentage and Body Mass Index. Scale Relay only reads on this route; it never changes what is in Health.

  4. Check the source and connect Garmin

Scale Relay picks the app that saved your most recent weigh-in as the source; if you have several scale apps, choose Renpho Health from the Source menu. Tap Connect next to Garmin Account and sign in with your Garmin email and password; enter the code if your account uses two-factor authentication.

  5. Review and send

The New measurements list shows every weigh-in Renpho Health saved to Health in the last 7 days, with body fat and BMI next to each one when the app wrote them. Tap Send to Garmin. Scale Relay confirms each accepted upload; find them in Garmin Connect under Health Stats › Weight. Nothing is ever sent twice, and nothing is sent without that tap.

Lean body massWhen Renpho Health wrote itNot sent: Garmin has no field for it

Renpho Health writes lean body mass to Health as well, but Garmin Connect has no field for it, so Scale Relay leaves it out rather than mislabel it as muscle mass. A weight that is younger than a minute waits until Renpho has written its body fat and BMI, so a weigh-in never arrives in Garmin as weight only when the full set is on its way.

Already have months of weigh-ins?

Scale Relay sends weigh-ins from the last 7 days before you connected, and everything older once Garmin Sync is unlocked (Include older measurements on the Health tab). For years of history that predate Apple Health access, export the data from Renpho Health and convert it with the free Renpho to Garmin Connect import tool; it keeps the original dates and body composition.

Troubleshooting

The Health tab shows "No weight data found"

  • Open the Health app › profile picture › Apps › Renpho Health and make sure Weight is on. If Scale Relay is listed there, make sure its Weight switch is on too.
  • Weigh yourself once more with Renpho Health open; Renpho does not back-fill weigh-ins made before access was granted.
  • Pull down on the Health tab to refresh the list.

The weigh-in is listed but has no body fat

Renpho measures body composition only barefoot with dry feet; a weigh-in in socks is weight only in Renpho Health, in Health and in Garmin. Also check that Body Fat Percentage and Body Mass Index are switched on for Renpho Health in the Health app.

Two sources appear: Renpho Health and another app

If MyFitnessPal or another app also writes weight to Health, Scale Relay shows each app as a separate source. Choose Renpho Health in the Source menu; only one source sends at a time, so nothing is duplicated in Garmin.

Garmin sign-in or upload problems

  • Use your Garmin account email and password, and enter the two-factor code when asked; codes expire quickly.
  • Repeated failed sign-ins are temporarily blocked by Garmin. Wait a few minutes.
  • A failed upload stays queued: open Scale Relay and tap Retry. Nothing is sent in the background.
  • Garmin China (garmin.cn) accounts are separate from connect.garmin.com and are not supported.

Frequently asked questions

Does Renpho sync with Garmin Connect directly?

No. Renpho Health connects to Apple Health, Google Fit, Fitbit and MyFitnessPal, and Garmin is not on the list. The MyFitnessPal link only passes weight to Garmin, and only if your Garmin account is linked to MyFitnessPal. On an iPhone, Apple Health plus Scale Relay carries weight, body fat and BMI.

Do I need to keep the Renpho app?

Yes. Renpho scales send their measurement to the Renpho app, which calculates body composition and writes to Health. Scale Relay does not talk to the scale on this route; it reads what Renpho wrote.

Will body fat and muscle show up in Garmin?

Body fat percentage and BMI do, as long as Renpho wrote them to Health. Muscle mass, water and bone mass have no Apple Health type, so they stay in the Renpho app. If you want those in Garmin too, a Xiaomi scale over Scale Relay's Bluetooth route carries the full set.

Can it send my older Renpho history?

Weigh-ins from the last 7 days are included; everything Renpho has written to Health comes with Garmin Sync. History from before you allowed Health access goes through the free import tool, which converts Renpho's export into a file Garmin Connect imports at the original dates.

Is it automatic?

No. Scale Relay reads Health and sends when you open the Health tab and tap Send; iOS does not let a third-party app watch Health in the background. Weigh in, open the app, tap once.

What does it cost?

The app is free, the first two syncs are free, and unlimited syncing plus older history is a one-time $14.99 purchase called Garmin Sync. No subscription, no account.

Is there an Android version?

No. Scale Relay is an iPhone app because this route depends on Apple Health. On Android, look at the options compared page for tools that work there.

Is my data private?

Weigh-ins go from Apple Health on your iPhone straight to your Garmin account. Scale Relay has no server of its own, no account and no analytics; the privacy section has the details.
