Which scales work with Garmin Connect?

Only Garmin's own Index scales send weight to Garmin Connect by themselves. Every other smart scale needs something in between. This page lists the common brands, the route that works for each one, and what actually arrives in Garmin Connect.

Updated 5 October 2026 · Garmin Index, Withings, Renpho, Eufy, Etekcity, Wyze, Picooc, Xiaomi

The short answer. Natively compatible: the Garmin Index S2 and the original Garmin Index, nothing else. With an iPhone, any scale whose app saves weigh-ins to Apple Health can be relayed to Garmin Connect, and two Xiaomi scales can be read directly over Bluetooth. On Android, Xiaomi scales have a free app; other brands go through MyFitnessPal (weight only) or a paid cloud service.

We build Scale Relay, the iPhone app in the third column. The other routes below are described from their own documentation.

The routes, briefly

  • Garmin Index S2. Garmin's own Wi-Fi scale. It uploads to Garmin Connect with no phone involved and costs about $150 or €150.
  • Scale Relay over Bluetooth (iPhone). Reads the Mi Body Composition Scale 2 and the Xiaomi S400 directly and sends weight with full body composition. Open the app, step on the scale.
  • Scale Relay through Apple Health (iPhone). Your scale's app saves the weigh-in to the Health app, Scale Relay shows it and you tap Send. Garmin Connect does not read weight from Apple Health on its own. Details per brand are in the Apple Health guide.
  • MiScale Exporter (Android). A free, open-source app for Xiaomi scales with full body composition.
  • MyFitnessPal. MyFitnessPal syncs weight with Garmin Connect, so any scale app that can feed MyFitnessPal reaches Garmin this way. Weight only, and MyFitnessPal often has to be opened for the sync to run.
  • SmartScaleSync. A paid web service ($2.49 a month or $18.99 a year) that copies measurements from a Withings, Wyze or Renpho cloud account to Garmin Connect on a schedule.
  • A computer that is always on. Open-source bridges such as export2garmin, SmartScaleConnect and withings-sync run on a Raspberry Pi or PC and need no phone at all. They are the most capable and the most work to set up.
  • Typing it in. Garmin Connect accepts a manual weight entry. Free, weight only.

The Xiaomi routes are compared in detail, with sources, in Xiaomi scale to Garmin Connect: every option compared.

Choosing a scale for Garmin Connect

  • You want nothing to set up: the Garmin Index S2. It is the only scale that syncs by itself.
  • You already own a smart scale: keep it. On an iPhone, check that its app writes to Apple Health; nearly all of them do.
  • You are buying new and use an iPhone: the two Xiaomi scales are the ones whose muscle mass, body water and bone mass also reach Garmin Connect from a phone app, and they cost a fraction of the Index S2. Scales that go through Apple Health deliver weight, body fat and BMI.
  • You use Android: a Xiaomi scale with MiScale Exporter is the simplest free setup. Scale Relay is an iPhone app.

Already have months of weigh-ins?

The routes above send new measurements. To move your history, export it from your scale's app and convert the file with the free Garmin Connect weight import tool. It turns CSV exports from Renpho, Withings, eufy, Zepp Life or a spreadsheet into a file Garmin Connect imports at the original dates, body composition included.

Frequently asked questions

Which scales are compatible with Garmin Connect?

Only Garmin's own scales, the Index S2 and the original Index, send measurements to Garmin Connect by themselves. Every other scale needs one of the bridges on this page.

Does Withings sync with Garmin Connect?

Not directly. On an iPhone the Withings app writes weight, body fat and BMI to Apple Health, and Scale Relay relays them to Garmin Connect. Without an iPhone, MyFitnessPal passes weight only, and SmartScaleSync is a paid service that copies from the Withings cloud.

Does Renpho work with Garmin Connect?

Not directly. On an iPhone the Renpho Health app writes weight, body fat and BMI to Apple Health, and Scale Relay relays them to Garmin Connect. MyFitnessPal passes weight only.

Can Garmin Connect read weight from Apple Health?

No. Garmin Connect writes data to Apple Health but does not read weight from it, so a weigh-in your scale's app saved to the Health app stays there unless a bridge app sends it on.

Does body fat transfer, or only weight?

It depends on the route. A Garmin Index scale and the Bluetooth route for Xiaomi scales carry full body composition. The Apple Health route carries weight, plus body fat and BMI when your scale's app recorded them. MyFitnessPal and manual entry carry weight only.

Do I need a Garmin scale to see my weight in Garmin Connect?

No. The Index S2 is the only scale that needs no setup beyond Wi-Fi, but any smart scale can reach Garmin Connect through one of the routes above, and you can always type the weight in by hand.

Is the sync automatic?

With a Garmin Index scale, a computer bridge or SmartScaleSync, yes. With Scale Relay you open the app and step on the scale, or tap Send; it does not sync in the background.
