Withings scale to Garmin Connect on iPhone

Withings scales have no Garmin Connect integration, and Garmin Connect does not read weight from Apple Health. On an iPhone there is a short route anyway: the Withings app saves each weigh-in to Apple Health, and Scale Relay sends weight, body fat and BMI from there to your Garmin account. This guide covers the setup, what transfers, and what the October 2026 Withings+ change means for new accounts.

New Withings account? Check this first. Withings says that accounts created on or after 13 October 2026 must subscribe to Withings+ (about $99.50 a year) before the Withings app shares data with Apple Health and other apps. Accounts created before that date keep sharing for free, also with a new scale. Without Withings+, nothing reaches Apple Health, so Scale Relay has nothing to send. You can still export a CSV from Withings and import your history into Garmin Connect for free, with body fat, water, muscle and bone mass. What you need

  • A Withings scale set up in the Withings app (formerly Health Mate).
  • A Withings account that can share with Apple Health: created before 13 October 2026, or with Withings+.
  • An iPhone with iOS 17 or later. Scale Relay reads Apple Health, which only exists on iPhone.
  • A Garmin Connect account. Two-factor authentication is supported.
  • Scale Relay from the App Store. The first two syncs are free.

How it works

A Withings scale uploads each weigh-in over Wi-Fi to your Withings account. The Withings app then writes it to Apple Health, but not on its own: Withings says syncing to Apple Health "is not automatic", so the app has to be opened and refreshed, and it can take a few minutes. Scale Relay reads the new weigh-in from Health and, with one tap, sends it to Garmin Connect, where it appears under Health Stats › Weight.

Step by step

  1. Turn on Apple Health in the Withings app

In the Withings app, open your profile, then Apps › Apple Health, and allow Weight, Body Fat Percentage and BMI. To check, open the iPhone Health app › Browse › Body Measurements › Weight: recent entries should list Withings as the source.

  2. Weigh yourself, then open the Withings app

Step on the scale as usual. After it has uploaded, open the Withings app and pull down to refresh; that is when the weigh-in reaches Apple Health. Keep Background App Refresh on for the Withings app.

  3. Install Scale Relay and connect Apple Health

Download Scale Relay from the App Store, open the Health tab and tap Connect Apple Health. Allow Weight, Body Fat Percentage and Body Mass Index. Scale Relay only reads on this route; it never changes what is in Health.

  4. Check the source and connect Garmin

Scale Relay picks the app that saved your most recent weigh-in as the source; choose Withings from the Source menu if you see more than one. Tap Connect next to Garmin Account and sign in with your Garmin email and password.

  5. Review and send

The New measurements list shows what Withings saved to Health in the last 7 days. Tap Send to Garmin. Nothing is sent twice, and nothing is sent without that tap or your own automation.

Make it one step with Shortcuts

Scale Relay has a Sync to Garmin action for the Shortcuts app. In Shortcuts › Automation, create a personal automation When the Withings app is closed, add the Sync to Garmin action and set it to run immediately. After weighing you open the Withings app, let it refresh, close it, and the weigh-in goes to Garmin without opening Scale Relay. If a weigh-in had not reached Health yet, the next run sends it.

Want muscle, water and bone mass in Garmin as well? Your Withings CSV export has them, and the free Withings import tool brings them into Garmin Connect at the original dates. It works for any Withings account, with or without Withings+.

Troubleshooting

The Health tab shows "No weight data found"

  • Check the Withings+ note at the top: new accounts share nothing with Health without it.
  • Open the Withings app and pull to refresh, then pull down on Scale Relay's Health tab.
  • In the Health app › profile picture › Apps › Withings, make sure Weight is on.

Someone else's weight showed up

On a shared scale, Withings decides whose weigh-in it is, and Scale Relay sends what Withings wrote to your Health data. If a weigh-in was assigned to the wrong person, fix it in the Withings app before sending.

Frequently asked questions

Does Withings sync with Garmin Connect directly?

No. Withings has no Garmin Connect integration, and Garmin Connect does not read weight from Apple Health. Withings suggests MyFitnessPal as a go-between, which passes weight only. On an iPhone, Apple Health plus Scale Relay carries weight, body fat and BMI.

Do I need Withings+?

Only if your Withings account was created on or after 13 October 2026. Older accounts keep sharing with Apple Health for free. Scale Relay does not get around this and does not try to; without Withings+, the free CSV import is the way to bring your history to Garmin.

Can it send my older Withings history?

Weigh-ins from the last 7 days are included; everything older that Withings wrote to Health comes with Garmin Sync. For years of history, the free import tool converts Withings' weight.csv into a file Garmin Connect imports, body composition included.

What does it cost?

The app is free, the first two syncs are free, and unlimited syncing plus older history is a one-time $14.99 purchase called Garmin Sync. No subscription, no account.

Is my data private?

Weigh-ins go from Apple Health on your iPhone straight to your Garmin account. Scale Relay has no server of its own, no account and no analytics; the privacy section has the details.
